What is this blog all about?

It is often said that every little girl grows up dreaming about her wedding day. Perhaps there is some truth to that. But what if that little girl is a tomboy, or a jock, or a lesbian, or a boy? When we grow up, how do we make our dreams a reality?

As queer folks, we are continually redefining marriage and family. With that comes redefining weddings and style. Imagine your wedding. What would you wear? What did you wear? Where would you shop for it? How do you find the perfect outfit when you don't fit into a tidy little box? Please send me your thoughts and pictures so we can create a resource for all the queer folks out there who don't know what to wear to their weddings. Customize Your Suit by Making Your Own Buttons

Here is my lovely bride, Sunny, making her button for the white suit she wore for our wedding. She bought this inexpensive button cover kit and used material left over from the hemming of her pants. It was easy to do, and it made the suit into the perfect wedding outfit.

Tip: Moisten the fabric first so it is more flexible.

I will have before and after pictures of the suit soon.

Kate McElwee is the awesome photographer who took our wedding photos in Boston. She made us feel totally at ease and captured some wonderful moments. Here is a link to some of the photos on her blog.
